Who is EDANZ?
EDANZ is an incorporated society established to provide support and education for parents and caregivers of people with eating disorders. The society was established in September 2007 by a group of Auckland parents who all have children with eating disorders. The group was prompted to form EDANZ because of the shortcomings they have experienced in the services and support on offer for people with eating disorders and their families.
What are EDANZ aims?
To provide support, information and help to families that have a member with an eating disorder.
To change the way people think and talk about eating disorders.
To advocate for increased resources and better services for people with eating disorders and their families.

The aim of this web site
When our group of parents, with children and young adults with eating disorders initially got together and began to share stories some common themes began to emerge:
- We had little or no knowledge of eating disorders.
- We didn't know where to go for advice and help.
- There was a lot of stereotyping and stigma attached to eating disorders.
We have put together this website with the aim of providing a comprehensive resource for parents and carers of someone with an eating disorder.
Throughout this website we invite parents and carers comments/ experiences so we can collectively support and learn from each other. Please ensure any personal comments are made with your daughter/son's approval as maintaining trust is essential.
